Experimental: Slick Advert to Sell a Crappy 1999 Car

What do you do if you have a crappy car you just want to get rid off!

Well, David Johns took an imaginative approach and made the slickest video, and waited for the offers to come rolling in.

Johns is the digital director of Australian agency Chimney, so he got his colleagues on board, and made the used-car ad to beat all used-car ads.

The beautifully constructed footage is like a scene out of The Fast and the Furious. The blue Barina is shown speeding through city roads in all its glory, with flames shooting out from behind the wheels. With slogans such as “This is driving, redefined”, “Style redefined. Performance redefined. Luxury redefined.” the advert surely demands your attention.

Although it seems like a clever marketing ploy by car manufacturer Holden, Johns insisted he just wanted to have some fun, and show off his digital skills. “There’s so much competition for selling used cars, I wanted to do something clever.” Suddenly, everyone wants a part of the action. Offers began flooding in using the hashtag #BuyMyBarina. The world was sold, and showed it through their generous offers:
